Speed Limit Changes Coming to Chisholm Trail Parkway

proj02_ctp_openSome speed limits will soon increase on the Chisholm Trail Parkway (CTP) in Tarrant County.

Since traffic on the CTP established regular patterns, the city of Fort Worth asked NTTA to conduct a speed study for the full length of the toll road. The study, which follows Texas Department of Transportation protocol, determined maximum speed limits for the road based on safety, the road’s design and other factors.

The Fort Worth City Council supported the speed study findings and amended a previous agreement limiting CTP speeds in some areas to 50 mph.

The revised speed limits will go into effect when the regulatory signs are posted. Installation is scheduled to be complete by mid-September.

Here’s the breakdown on speed limits for specific areas of the CTP:

CTP Segment. Current Posted Speed (mph) New Posted Speed (mph)
Forest Park to University Drive 50 50
University Drive to Arborlawn Drive 50 60
Arborlawn Drive to Altamesa Boulevard 60 65
Altamesa Boulevard to FM 1216 70 70
FM 1216 to US 67 55 55

The Texas Department of Public Safety is responsible for enforcement of speed limits on the CTP and NTTA receives no revenue from any traffic citations.
