Speed Limit Rising on 8-Mile Stretch of Tollway

Speed limits will return to 65 mph on the Dallas North Tollway between Harvest Hill Road (south of Interstate 635) and I-35E now that improvement work has wrapped up on that section of the tollway.

The speed limit had been set at 55 mph while crews worked on major maintenance projects for the road: replacing the tollway’s concrete center, resurfacing the pavement and restriping the lanes.

Before NTTA’s board of directors approved raising the speed limit in that area, staff conducted a detailed safety study, including collecting speed data, evaluating curve restrictions and examining the road’s geometry.

The speed limit will remain 50 mph at the southernmost end of the tollway, south of Oak Lawn Avenue.

The new speed limits will go into effect after new speed limit signs are installed.
