Top 10 Things to Know About Current Construction on Our Roads

Heavy rain the last two months didn’t stop progress on our improvements to the Dallas North Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike. Here are 10 things you should know about that construction.

Dallas North Tollway

  1. Additional lanes in each direction are now open between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the Bush Turnpike, easing traffic congestion through the area.
  2. Crews are continuing to plant landscaping. The rain has allowed much of the new greenery to take root and thrive.
  3. Last month, additional lanes on the interchange between the tollway and the Bush Turnpike also opened, providing smoother traffic flow.
  4. At the end of March, we opened the new south-to-northbound U-turn lane at Legacy Drive.
  5. South of Interstate 635, crews are replacing the median barriers as part of proactive, planned maintenance.

President George Bush Turnpike

  1. The concrete has cured for the additional lane in each direction from east of U.S. 75 to the toll gantry near Shiloh Road.
  2. Crews are now working east of that area, toward North Garland Avenue.
  3. Between the tollway and the toll gantry near Frankford Road, crews are installing foundations for a new concrete median barrier.
  4. Most of this construction happens during off-peak hours – at night and some weekends. Various lane and ramp closures are needed from time to time. Check for updates on org.
  5. We appreciate your patience during our construction!
