You’re One Short Drive Away from Holiday Happiness

Enjoy some whimsy this winter by exploring local festive events. From Santa’s Village to magical holiday lights and a photo op with reindeer, North Texas offers top-tier cheer:

  • Richardson: Santa’s Village – Visiting a tiny town of 16 holiday dwellings is a tradition for families from Richardson and beyond. Each colorful building offers children a fun activity and even a visit with Santa. Attendees can also enjoy live performances and holiday photo ops before warming up with a cup of hot chocolate or a snack. Santa’s Village is free and open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights starting Dec. 2 through Dec. 17. Click for more details.
  • Grand Prairie: 2017 Magical Winter Lights Dallas-Ft. Worth – The annual lantern festival and holiday celebration that began in Houston expands to Dallas-Fort Worth in partnership with Lone Star Park. The festival designs are based on Chinese lanterns and are transformed into larger-than-life remakes of well-known landmarks. Chinese acrobatic performances, fake dinosaur rides for children and a full-size food court are also offered. Tickets are available now, and the event runs through Jan. 7, 2018. • Burleson: Christmas on the Farm – Take pictures (bring your own camera) with a donkey wearing antlers, enjoy some cowboy poetry, Christmas trees decorated by community clubs and organizations, hay rides and browse handmade crafts for sale. Tours of the historic Russell-Boren house and the Russell Farm Art Center gallery are also available. Concessions include hot cocoa, cookies, coffee and ice cream. Join the fun from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 16.
