53 Reasons (and Counting) We’re Thankful

Times have been tough, there’s no denying. But NTTA is thankful for every driver, especially those who stand up for safety and pledge to park their phones when they’re behind the wheel.

And 53 VIPs – very important partners – who have shared in our quest to end the pervasive threat caused by texting while driving.

These cities, first responders, businesses and community partners have helped distribute around 150,000 specially made Red Thumb bands and have posted and shared other reminders to keep you safe on the road.

NTTA’s Red Thumb program has been going strong for five years! But there’s more work to do.

Nearly 400 people died in distracted driving crashes across Texas in 2018 (the latest year for which numbers are available) even after a statewide law banned texting while driving in 2017.

So we’re asking you to wear your Red Thumb band or make some part of your thumb or fingers red as a visual reminder to focus on driving, not your phone. We’d love to see photos of your thumb reminders on social media (share with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram)! #MyRedThumbNTTA

And if your neighborhood, business or organization would like to join the Red Thumb campaign, please contact us. We would love to have you on our team. We’ll provide you with everything you need to get started.

Special thanks to our current 53 Red Thumb partners. Your participation saves lives!
