NTTA Business Diversity Numbers Set Highest Mark in Authority History

PLANO, Texas – July 15, 2015 – The North Texas Tollway Authority achieved its highest level of disadvantaged, minority and women business enterprise participation in 2014. The announcement, made at Wednesday’s regularly scheduled board meeting, marks the sixth consecutive year of growth following NTTA’s elevation of Business Diversity to a stand-alone department.

D/M/WBE participation grew to 38.1 percent in 2014, from 27.9 percent in 2013. There was an increase in diversity participation in two of the four NTTA procurement categories.

“NTTA always seeks to create opportunities for qualified candidates who want to do business with the Authority,” said NTTA Chairman Kenneth Barr. “The Business Diversity Department has played a significant role in these increases.”

Additionally, NTTA continues to show growth in the number of D/M/WBEs moving into prime contractor roles.

The table below represents a comparison of 2013 and 2014 spending with D/M/WBEs in the four procurement categories.
