You May Want Those Sparklers Again

Your red, white and blue picnic blankets and bunting may already be packed away, but our construction crews are working to provide you with more reasons to celebrate. Keep reading to see what milestones are on the horizon to make your commute smoother.

Dallas North Tollway between Interstate 635 and downtown Dallas

Improved pavement will soon be under your tires on the Dallas North Tollway. Crews have already completed resurfacing work on the southbound main lanes between Harvest Hill Road and north of Northwest Highway. The new asphalt pavement provides you with a smoother ride.

Later this month, crews will resurface the northbound main lanes between Lovers Lane and Harvest Hill Road. The weekend work will include various lane and ramp closures. We will post detailed closure information on our website when the work schedule is confirmed.

Pavement improvements are also underway on the entrance and exit ramps of the tollway south of I-635. These ramps are undergoing work right now:

  • The northbound Oak Lawn Avenue entrance ramp
  • The northbound Lovers Lane exit ramp
  • The southbound Walnut Hill entrance ramp
  • The southbound Lemmon Avenue entrance ramp

If weather permits later this month, crews will begin work on the northbound Northwest Highway entrance ramp and the southbound Royal Lane entrance ramp.

Work to improve the pavement on the main lanes between Lovers Lane and Interstate 35E is scheduled to start in early fall.

The speed limit is lowered to 55 mph throughout the construction zones on the Dallas North Tollway to help ensure your safety and the safety of our workers. Please obey the speed limit and watch out for workers and law enforcement.

President George Bush Turnpike

Crews working to widen the President George Bush Turnpike between U.S. 75 and State Highway 78 are now adding lane stripes for the new fourth lane. Crews are also completing their work in the median. The fourth lane is scheduled to be completed late this year.

Between the Dallas North Tollway and I-35E, crews are continuing to build the new median traffic rail and are laying sod and grass in the median near the tollway. The fourth lane in this area of the Bush Turnpike is scheduled to be open to traffic in late 2019.

We appreciate your continued patience during our construction.
